What to know before going to Sa Riera Beach

Sa Riera is the largest cove in the municipality of Begur, with more than 200 meters in length. If you are planning to spend a few days in Begur, you cannot miss a visit to this unique beach, with Port des Pi on the right and Cala del Rey on the left. Its name comes from a torrent that was once divided into two parts. On one side we find boats and on the other all the space for bathers. In front of the beach some of the fishermen’s houses with porches are still preserved.

Access to Sa Riera

Being the largest and the busiest beach in Begur, it is very easily accessible. It can be accessed by car, by boat or on foot along the coastal path. In addition, it is very accessible for people with reduced mobility, with ramps and walkways to the shore, but also with accessible toilets and showers and an assistance service for bathers with disabilities.
If you decide to go to Sa Riera beach on a good excursion, it is great to do it along the coastal path that connects Sa Riera with Platja del Racó, passing through Illa Roja. The route does not last more than an hour (round trip) and although there are some descents with stairs, it is of low difficulty. Along this route that runs along the coast, you will be able to admire beautiful views of the waters and beaches of the area.

Where to eat in Sa Riera

Racó de Sa Riera: Only about 50 meters from Sa Riera beach you can find this restaurant, where you can enjoy some pizzas and a charming atmosphere.
Recer de la mar: this restaurant is also located a few meters from the beach, and always receives very good reviews. It is open both at midday and at night and has a very varied menu, from all kinds of salads to tapas or pizzas. It is an ideal place to go with the family.
Restaurant Costa Brava: Located in Plaça Sa Riera, this restaurant has a modern proposal but at the same time classic and traditional. There you can find all kinds of rice and fideuás, but also delicious desserts such as thyme ice cream. They also offer live musical performances during the summer months.

What to do in Sa Riera

If you want to discover this spectacular area of the Costa Brava but if you don’t take the car or go very far, you can choose to take the route or coastal path that goes from Sa Riera to Sa Tuna. This path connects two of the most beautiful corners of Begur and probably of the entire Costa Brava.
The entire route can last approximately 2 hours, and you can make several stops, such as Aiguafreda. Another very interesting stop that can be made is in the Ses Negres marine reserve, between Cap Negre and Pa de Pessic, an area rich in fauna and flora. On this tour you will enjoy incredible views and the Mediterranean nature characteristic of the area like children.
These are ideas for you to spend a fantastic day in one of the paradises of the Catalan coast.
