begur beaches
In the following list you will find the best begur coves, the most beautiful beaches to visit by sea or by land in the Begur area (Costa Brava)
Cala Aiguafreda
- Nearby parking location: Passeig de Carmen Amaya, 12, 17255 Begur, Girona.
Between Punta de les Vaques and Cap Sa Sal we find the narrow and long cove of Aiguafreda, well protected from the north winds (such as the Tramuntana) and also sheltered from the Garbí winds thanks to Punta del Palomar.
This beautiful cove is surrounded by not very high rocks and pine forests. Its waters are shallow, turquoise and crystal clear, which allows the seabed to be seen perfectly, with its rocks, algae and the thousand details of marine life.
Cala Aiguablava
The cove has all the services, including WC, assisted bathing, amphibious chair and parking.
- Nearby parking location: Parc d’estacionament d’Aiguablava (Carrer Platja d’Aiguablava, 3, 17255 Begur, Girona)
Aiguablava Beach is one of the most popular coves on the Costa Brava, surely due to its great natural beauty and its placid, crystalline waters. Oriented to the northeast and protected from the wind by Punta des Mut, this cove turns out to be an ideal spot to anchor a boat. It is 200 meters long and 150 meters wide and has a pier in Cala Fornells. The seabed that can be admired from Aiguablava is spectacularly beautiful, with fish of all kinds and lots of posidonia algae.
Cala Sa Tuna
- The beach has paid parking near the arenal. Its about “P7 Sot d’en Ferrer” (Carrer Circumval Lacio, 91, 17255 Begur, Girona)
The cherry on the cake without a doubt. Cala Sa Tuna is one of the most spectacular spots on the entire Catalan coast. It is located within the Cap de Begur and together with S’Eixugador and Punta des Plom (a natural breakwater that protects the bay from the winds) this place is one of the most captivating places on the Costa Brava, both for tourists and for people local. From s’Eixugador beach we can enjoy unique views of the famous Medes Islands and the also well-known Cap de Creus.
Punta des Plom is the beautiful entrance to Sa Tuna, which later opens to give rise to a small bay, ideal for sheltering small boats from the wind.
It is a very good area to anchor in a boat, since its bottom is quite free of rocks, just like the area in front of Cala S’Eixugador, with a sandy bottom and Posidonia algae.
Cala Fornells
- In the surroundings of the sandy area you can park for free at Parking Cala Fornells (07160 Cala Fornells, Balearic Islands).
The port of Fornells is located to the north of Cala d’Aiguablava. There you can find a marina not suitable for sailboats, as the port is very small. It is protected from the S.E.
Important to take into account: if there is wind, access can be dangerous.
On the route from Pals beach to Aiguablava, the section is once again steep, with three coves well protected from the Garbí wind standing out: Sa Riera (where you have to pay attention to the El Bató stumbling block), Sa Tuna and Aiguablava.
Platja Fonda
Platja Fonda could not be missing from a list of the best coves in Begur. It is a very special corner, also ideal for going by boat.
To access it you have to go down a long and steep staircase. Its difficult access has allowed it to remain just as natural and wild over the years, with its thick, dark sand and its crystalline waters. The cove is about 160 meters long and 25 wide.
Playa Fonda Parking
- From June to September: paid, €3 per day (with free Begur stamp)
- From October to May: Free
- Location: Parc d’estacionament de Platja Fonda (Carrer Platja Fonda, 20C, 17255, Girona)
Sa Sagristia
- Nearby parking: Carrer de la Tordera, 32, 17212 Tamariu, Girona
This little cove is simply a delight. It is a small idyllic corner with space only for small boats.
You can anchor only if there are no E winds, on rock and with 2 meters of water. Right next to it you will find the Marquesa cove.
